A man is in custody after ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) intercepted him with cocaine and a large quantity of cannabis during an operation at Sandaka Dam, Corentyne, Berbice.
According to CANU, officers acting on information conducted an operation in the area on Thursday, during which they intercepted a suspect travelling on a motorcycle.
A search of the man reportedly uncovered a parcel containing a quantity of cocaine. CANU said a further search of the surrounding area led to the discovery of two bulky parcels containing a quantity of cannabis.
The suspected narcotics and the suspect were taken to CANU’s Headquarters. The cocaine was weighed and amounted to 12.1 grammes, while the cannabis totalled 30 kilograms. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
