Labourer arrested after police find cocaine during Better Hope operation

A 56-year-old labourer was arrested on Thursday after police said cocaine was found on him during an operation at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the discovery was made between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. during a police exercise in the area.

Investigators said ranks searched the man, who is from Loo Creek, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, and found several whitish rock-like substances in his pants pocket.

Police said the substance was taken to the Sparendaam Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 1.6 grams. The man was arrested and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
