A 59-year-old labourer from South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has died after he was allegedly stabbed during a confrontation at the Mackenzie Market in Linden on Thursday.
Dead is Ray London. According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident occurred at about 17:00 hrs.
According to preliminary investigations, London and the suspect, a 41-year-old carpenter of Wismar, Linden, were known to each other and reportedly had previous disagreements.
Investigators believe the suspect armed himself with a knife and allegedly stabbed London to the left side of his lower abdomen during the encounter.
Following the attack, the injured man was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he received medical treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
However, London succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention at about 05:33 hrs on Friday, March 6, 2026.
His body has since been escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police have since arrested the suspect, who remains in custody as investigations into the fatal incident continue.
