A father and his 15-year-old daughter lost their lives early Thursday morning following a crash at the Mandela Roundabout in Georgetown.

Dead are Kenneth Johnson of ‘A’ Field, Liliendaal, Sophia, and his daughter, Kelly Johnson. Reports indicate that the fatal accident occurred at about 01:55 hrs.

Surveillance footage from the area shows Johnson driving west along the northern lane of Aubrey Barker Road moments before the crash.

According to law enforcement officials, the vehicle was travelling at an excessive speed as it approached the Mandela Roundabout. While attempting to negotiate the turn, the driver reportedly lost control of the car.

The vehicle subsequently slammed into a concrete median, flipped several times, and came to rest inside the roundabout.

Both Johnson and his teenage daughter were reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the impact. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third occupant, the dead man’s son, who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, survived the collision. He was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
