A 34-year-old carpenter was shot dead and found lying along the Bare Root Access Road, Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Sunday night.
The dead man has been identified as Homton Chichester, also called “Orlando,” a resident of Bare Root, Bachelor’s Adventure.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the murder occurred at about 19:30 hours. Preliminary investigations revealed that Chichester’s body was found motionless along the access road with gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder areas.
Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital, police said.
A motorcycle was also found at the location and was secured by investigators as part of the probe. The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said the area was canvassed for CCTV cameras, and footage was retrieved and will be analysed. Several persons were also contacted and questioned as investigators follow up on leads. Investigations are ongoing.
