A 53-year-old labourer from Brush Dam, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD), has been charged in connection with a robbery under arms committed earlier this week.
Joseph George was charged with robbery under arms, contrary to Section 222(c) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01, following an incident involving a 47-year-old self-employed woman of Montrose.
The offence reportedly occurred on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Vryheid’s Lust Public Road.
George appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.
The court granted George bail in the sum of $150,000, and the matter was adjourned to March 17, 2026.
