Dead is Mark Songster of Lot 6 Section ‘C’ Fyrish Road. The fatal accident occurred at about 8:10 p.m. along Fyrish Public Road in Region Six.
According to preliminary police investigations, motor lorry GYY 5720 was travelling west along the southern carriageway of the road at what was described as a normal speed when the driver allegedly ran over Songster, who was lying on the southern driving lane.

His body was subsequently taken to the Ramoo Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old man from Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, has been taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigation.
A breathalyser test was administered to the driver, and police said the readings showed 11 micrograms of alcohol in his breath.
The truck has since been lodged at the Albion Police Station and is expected to be examined by a Licensing and Certifying Officer.
Investigations are ongoing.
