Latchman Raghoo, a supernumerary constable from Albion Front, Corentyne, Berbice, has died after being crushed by an electric forklift at his workplace last Tuesday.
Raghoo was injured in the incident at Albion Estate, the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) said in a press release on Thursday. The corporation did not provide further details about how the incident occurred.
GuySuCo said it was deeply saddened by Raghoo’s death and extended condolences to his family, relatives, friends and colleagues.
The corporation said it had remained in close contact with his family since the incident and provided support through the Estate Management and Medical Department. It added that it would continue supporting the family during their period of grief.
GuySuCo said it would ensure that relevant internal procedures are followed and that the circumstances surrounding the incident are fully reviewed.
