Body found at Stewartville Seawall identified as missing West Coast Demerara woman

Police in Region Three have confirmed that a body discovered at the Stewartville Seawall, West Coast Demerara (WCD), has been identified as that of 38-year-old Chandini “Savi” Persaud of Anna Catherina.

According to a Police statement, ranks responded on Sunday, November 16, 2025, to a report of a body seen at the Stewartville Seawall. The scene was processed, and the then-unidentified body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it was lodged pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Two days later, on November 18, 2025, a missing person report was filed at the Leonora Police Station. Relatives reported that Persaud had been missing since November 14, 2025.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, a friend of Persaud visited the funeral home and positively identified the body as hers, using a tattoo as a distinguishing mark.

Police say a post-mortem examination is pending to determine the cause of death, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Persaud’s disappearance and death continue.
