An unidentified woman died on Thursday afternoon after she was struck in a crash involving two motor lorries on the #67 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the fatal accident occurred at about 16:00hrs.
The accident involved motor lorries GAF 6180 and GAE 8823 and a female pedestrian whose identity has not yet been established.
Police said the woman sustained injuries and was taken to the #75 Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Eight occupants of motor lorry GAF 6180 were also taken to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment for minor injuries.
Police have taken the drivers of both motor lorries into custody to assist with the investigation. Police said investigations are ongoing.
