A 26-year-old Corentyne man died on Tuesday morning after his car reportedly turned into the path of an oncoming lorry along the Nigg Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
Dead is Joshua Crawford of Lot 21 Alness Village, Corentyne. He was the driver and owner of motor car PZZ 5030.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the fatal accident occurred at about 5:11hrs.
The accident involved Crawford’s motor car and motor lorry GAF 3405, which is owned by Raveena Biysoondial of Port Mourant and was being driven by 29-year-old Raymond Swamber of Alness Village.

According to initial investigations, the lorry was travelling east along the northern drive lane at an alleged normal rate of speed, while Crawford’s car was proceeding west along the southern drive lane.
Police said that while the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions, the motor car allegedly turned north into the path of the lorry, resulting in a collision.
Crawford sustained injuries and was removed from the vehicle in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens.
He was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further medical attention.
However, upon arrival at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, Crawford was examined and pronounced dead.
Police said a breathalyzer test was administered to Swamber, which recorded readings of 16 and 13 micrograms. Swamber remains in police custody as investigations continue.
