Two men were arrested on Tuesday after officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) seized two firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation at Castello Housing Scheme, West La Penitence.
According to a CANU press release, officers acting on information received conducted the operation on June 30, 2026, during which they intercepted two male suspects.
A search of the suspects unearthed one black .38 Special Smith & Wesson revolver with one live matching round, along with one black 9mm Baikal Makarov pistol.
The two suspects were arrested and handed over to ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), along with the firearms and ammunition, for further investigation. Investigations are ongoing.
