A 28-year-old teacher of Waramuri Village was arrested on Saturday after police found a quantity of cannabis on him during an operation at Moruca, North West District.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the discovery was made at about 5:30 p.m.
Police said ranks approached the suspect and carried out a search on his person, during which a transparent plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems was found in his pants pocket.
The substance, which police said is suspected to be cannabis, was seized, and the suspect was taken to the Acquero Police Station.
There, the suspected cannabis was weighed in the man’s presence and amounted to 15.4 grams. The narcotic has since been lodged, and investigations are continuing.
